LORD GANESH AND THE RIVER BANK

When I was a small boy I used accompany my mother to the river side and

while mother was washing the cloth i used to wander here and there near the

river bank . I have seen Lord Ganesh was sitting under the banyan tree . I have

seen the same scene when i have visited my uncle's place near the bank of the 

river Cauvery the idol of Lord vigneswar was under the banyan tree. I have

asked my mother 'Why lord vigneswar is sitting under banyan tree near all the rivers"?

My mother said " Lord ganesh is fond of his mother very much and he likes to have

his bride like his mother that is the reason he is sitting on the banks of the rivers

in search of suitable bride like his mother where most of the women were having 

the habbit of washing and bathing . i dont know how far this story is true and in my

opinion the reason is believable
